Renaissance Culture with Wine and Cheese

If you are interested in Italy, its artistic and cultural achievements as well as wine and cheese, you are recommended to join this course. No special knowledge, neither in art nor in wine, is required. We study Renaissance art with famous painters, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo, as well as Renaissance architecture. Early Renaissance was born in Florence at the beginning of the 15th century, and this is where we start our course after an initial introduction in the previous late medieval period. The course ends with Late Renaissance and Mannerism of the16th century.

In every class, after this Renaissance session, you are invited to taste two Italian wines with some cheese and Renaissance music. In connection with this wine tasting you will learn Italian wine geography and the different grape varieties used in Italy. Our goal is to enhance your ability to see and evaluate differences between artists and periods and in this way increase your understanding and appreciation of an exciting period in European cultural history. At the same time you will gain more knowledge and experience of Italian wine and wine culture. Afterwards, we can recommend joining our short trips to Venice with a program concentrated on wine, food and culture (link to web page).

You are invited to join either an introductory course or a full course. After your preliminary interest has been mailed to us, we will contact you with information on as soon as we have a sufficient number of participants.
